Our history

The origins of the High Trail Vanoise

The Odlo High Trail Vanoise originated in 2011 under the name Ice Trail Tarentaise (ITT), during its first edition. At the time, the Val d’Isère Sports Club was only a service provider for the Trailers Pays de Savoie association, the main organiser of the event. The first editions of the Ice Trail Tarentaise offered several routes:

➡️ The Ice Trail Tarentaise (ITT): A 65 km trail with 5,000 m of elevation gain.

➡️ The Altispeed: A short 32 km trail with 2,500 m of elevation gain.

➡️ La Montagnarde: A 12.5 km hike with 1,400 m of elevation gain.

In 2014, the Sports Club decided to take an active role in organising the event, moving away from its role as a service provider to take on a management role. It was at this point that the name of the event was changed to Odlo High Trail Vanoise, marking an important turning point and the beginning of a new era.

The current routes of the High Trail Vanoise

➡️ The High Trail Vanoise (HTV): A trail over 65 km long with more than 4,000 m of elevation gain.

➡️ The Trail des 5 Cols (T5C): A short trail over 30 km long with more than 2,500 m of elevation gain.

➡️ Les Balcons: A trail over 20 km long with 1,150 m of elevation gain.

➡️ La petite Vanoise charity: An 8 km charity run to support a good cause.

➡️ Le Trail Jeunes/Enfants: A race dedicated to younger runners, launched in 2013.

An unmissable event in the heart of the Alps

Thanks to these developments, the Odlo High Trail Vanoise has established itself as one of the major trail running events in the Alps, attracting a growing number of participants each year. Its success is based on technical and demanding courses, ranked among the top 5 high-altitude trails, in the heart of the Vanoise National Park, offering spectacular landscapes and an exceptional setting for mountain enthusiasts.

Under the auspices of the Val d’Isère Sports Club, headed by Ingrid Jacquemod since 2019, the Odlo High Trail Vanoise continues to grow and strengthen, becoming an unmissable event for lovers of trail running and mountain adventure. True to its mission, the event remains focused on offering exceptional challenges while celebrating the beauty and unique spirit of the Vanoise.
